Overview

The 24th annual conference of the IR Society took place on 20 April at the Brewery in Chiswell Street, London. Around 250 conference participants listened to a series of expert speakers discuss issues around the conference theme 'IR in the new decade'.

Richard Davies, IR Society Chairman, stated “Our annual conference in April 2010 delivered a bumper crop of top quality speakers and high level of debate from the platform. For 2011 we are looking at issues of timing, format and content so that the conference proves relevant to even the most senior and experienced IR professional.

This year's key speaker was Xavier Rolet, chief executive of the London Stock Exchange (LSE) who commented "We need to act quickly to broaden our corporate financing base and to address the barriers to equity finance and exchange trading that contributed to the credit crunch," and that "In the white heat of the most severe financial crisis in living history, you (IR professionals) worked to deliver the equity capital which kept the economy afloat".
