Remuneration on everybody’s lips

Following the shredding of Fred Goodwin’s knighthood this week, executive pay is high on the list of business and political talking points. With detailed newspaper commentary on current shareholder pressure to curb the pay of Trinity Mirror CEO, Sly Bailey and a media focus on the issue more generally, it would appear that company remuneration and in particular incentivisation is becoming a greater part of the investor agenda. The Society will be monitoring developments to see whether remuneration issues will continue to fall within the company secretarial remit or indeed whether IROs are likely to find themselves becoming more involved.
