The IR Society and CAGE salute the winner of the Roddy Child-Villiers Investor Relations Award

The IR Society and the Consumer Analyst Group of Europe (CAGE) are delighted that Richard Joyce, Reckitt Benckiser’s Director of Investor Relations, has won the Roddy Child-Villiers Investor Relations Award a.k.a. “The Roddy” for the second year running.

This prize, initiated in 2016 by CAGE in association with the IR Society, honours one of the industry’s pre-eminent investor relations executives who sadly passed away in 2014, aged 50.
Roddy Child-Villiers was key to the founding and development of CAGE, and new award seeks to perpetuate and promote the professional and human characteristics that Roddy combined so effortlessly and seamlessly during his time as Head of Investor Relations for multinational food company Nestlé.

The second Roddy has been awarded in 2017 to Richard Joyce, because of the candidate’s outstanding demonstration of five key characteristics exemplified by Roddy: competence, communication, character, humanity and personality.

At this year’s 2017 CAGE conference in London, the CAGE Board also honoured Catherine James, with a ‘Lifetime Achievement’ Roddy award. Former head of investor relations at Diageo plc, and long-time supporter of CAGE and former member of the CAGE Advisory Panel, Catherine is recognised for her contributions to the investor relations and investment community over a long and distinguished career.

John Gollifer, General Manager of the IR Society, said, “We are delighted to be associated with the Roddy Child-Villiers Investor Relations Award for the second year running. This award recognises outstanding individuals for their significant contribution to the industry on a human as well as professional level. Our hearty congratulations go to Richard on another win and to Catherine for the recognition that she deserves.”

James Amoroso, President, Consumer Analyst Group of Europe, said, “Both Catherine and Richard are worthy winners of the Roddy award, as nominated by our sell-side and buy-side members, and stood out clearly from this year’s 87 nominees. Roddy would have been pleased to know that these awards are going to loyal CAGE Corporate Members, and that through this award his life’s work will have an ongoing positive influence on the profession that he loved.”
