   • Provide an overview of a typical day in a newsroom, explaining key deadlines
   • What is a journalist’s agenda? How to get the most out of the relationship
   • What is the level of knowledge / research done on companies?
   • Use of quotes and other sources - what does ‘off the record’ mean

Financial PR Advisor
   • Writing a press release - how best to get your message across, what not to do
   • What impact does the media have on the markets and share prices
   • Managing board expectations
   • How to develop relationships with the press
   • New media impact of e-communications, blogs, webinars etc.

IR Practitioner
   • Role of media in getting your company’s message to the market
   • How to use journalists to your advantage and manage their expectations
   • Internal processes in place to handle the media, training of key staff, disaster planning
   • Dealing with rumours and speculation, when to comment, who to put forward
   • How to give a good interview - company’s view
